Increased minimum wage (2025)
As of 1 January, 2025, the minimum wage for employees working full-time has been increased to HUF 290,800 per month. This amounts to HUF 66,860 per week, HUF 13,380 per day, and HUF 1,672 per hour.
Remote work allowances (2025)
New regulations require employers to provide remote workers with a monthly allowance of up to HUF 20,000 to cover home office expenses such as internet and utilities.
Reduced notice periods for fixed-term contracts (2025)
The notice period for employees on fixed-term contracts has been reduced from 30 days to 15 days, allowing greater flexibility for both employers and employees in temporary roles.
Extended parental leave benefits (2025)
Parental leave entitlements have been expanded, granting parents an additional four weeks of paid leave to support work-life balance and caregiving responsibilities.
Right to Disconnect' legislation (2025)
Hungary has introduced the ‘right to disconnect’, ensuring that employees are not obligated to respond to work-related communications outside of normal working hours, except in urgent cases. This initiative aims to prevent burnout and protect employees’ personal time.
